Grow with Toyota

At Toyota, we don’t just have a vision but a group of talented, dedicated people who work hard every day to turn that vision into reality. A career at Toyota is all about discovering new passions and talents, and developing the skills and approaches that enable you to tackle real-world problems, develop inventive solutions, and make a difference.

At the moving line simulator, students become familiar with the most complicated yet well-orchestrated process in the plant—Toyota Production Systems, a world-renowned manufacturing philosophy. TPS helps Toyota establish everything from timing, line-side parts delivery, as well as Takt time—the amount of time it takes a vehicle to roll off the line. At Toyota Indiana vehicles roll off the line every 60 seconds. Now, that’s a lot of cars!

Individual lockers are assigned to each student to store their Toyota issued clothing, steel-toed shoes and PPE.

Tradiebot Virtual Reality Paint SprayVIS training offers students an inside look into other departments to broaden their knowledge of careers at Toyota while further developing their fine-motor skills and coordination.

The 4T Academy uses Oculus technology to deploy Forklift Simulator, which gives students the opportunity to experience and practice driving mobile equipment safely in a controlled learning environment again giving them more context to the manufacturing environment and career opportunities.

The 4T Academy classroom is a collaborative learning space where students study general curriculum and Toyota culture curriculum using active learning, shared workspaces, reconfigurable furniture and more.

In stations 6-15 students work through each training station to build the foundation for their senior-year internship where they’ll work alongside Toyota experts in the plant assembling Toyota vehicles.

The tool training area contains the building blocks of Toyota’s assembly process and is a replica of the fundamental skills training for new team members. These skills are essential for success when team members are moved to the production floor and are the basic skills needed to begin a career at Toyota Indiana.

Students warm up their hands before starting tool training. Here the emphasis is on dexterity. Nuts and bolts are picked four to five at a time and rolled into position for the student to place on a vehicle. This exercise helps teach hand dexterity for installing nuts and bolts on the vehicles. With over 3,000 per vehicle, being nimble is key.

The augmented reality training area utilizes Microsoft Hololens technology that encompasses holographic images to help students learn how to install parts correctly. It combines standardized work and hands-on training into one process with state-of-the-art technology.
